Socorro Velázquez (nee López) age 75, entered into Eternal life, Friday, February 22, 2019 at the University of Illinois at Chicago Hospital. Loving wife of: Rubén Velázquez Sr. Cherished mother of: Rubén Jr. (Monica) Velázquez, Arturo (Patricia) Velázquez and Armando Velázquez. Beloved Grandmother of: Jennifer Lessen, Benjamin, Jessica, Alyssa and Great grandmother of: Adelynn and Michael Rubén. Fond Aunt of many nieces and nephews. Socorro was proceeded in death by her parents: †Manuel López & †Elisa López and her dearest grandson: Rubén Velázquez III.

Socorro was a long life resident of Pilsen. Active member of Las Guadalupanas of St. Procopius Church, graduated from St. Procopius Catholic High School, active member and team leader of the Senior Program at Dvorak Park. Socorro will be greatly missed by all those that knew her especially her family.

 Visitation: Monday, February 25, 2019; 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity, 1850 S. Throop Street, Chicago. Funeral Service: Tuesday, February 26, 2019, 9:15 a.m. Prayer service at Holy Trinity 1850 S. Throop Street.  Celebration of Life – Mass at 10:00 a.m.  St. Procopius Church 1200 West 18th Street (Corners of 18th Street and Allport Street), Chicago. Burial. St. Mary Cemetery, Evergreen Park.

My dear family, my flight has been cancelled with the only opportunity to rebook is on Tuesday. Unfortunately that means I will not physically be there but trust I am with you in spirit as we send your angel home. I love you all & share your loss. May God give you strength. ????????????

My Dear Family, I cannot tell you how much my cousin meant to me, she was more like a sister to me then a cousin. I will definitely be lost without her. My #1 Chicago White Sox Fan and companion , your seat will be empty this year, but I know you will be with me in spirit. Luv you my Beloved Cousin and “Go-Go White Sox” . I have lost a dear friend that I personally will miss.
The community has lost a valuable spoke in the wheel.
To the family of Socorro, condolences to all, she will be missed dearly.
She can now rest in peace, the good Lord was looking for that special person, he now has the best.

Soco was a wonderful friend to so many of us. Her positive energy was inspiring and a gift to us.
