Christina Ambriz, age 68 went to be with Our Lord, Friday, June 24, 2022 at her residence in Chicago surrounded by her loving family.

Cherished mother of:  Peter S. Ambriz, Lisa Ambriz, Anthony Ambriz, Christopher Torres, Fabian M. Torres, Michael Vincent Torres and Raquel Torres. Loving daughter of: Martha D. Ambriz

Beloved sister of: Sara, Martha, Rosie, Fabian, Sonia, Elvia and Alma. Treasured aunt, grandmother and great grandmother of many. Dear friend to many. She will be greatly missed. Preceded in death by her brother John.

Our mom was a busy woman. As a single mother, she always enjoyed working while on the go. Was into movies & art, loved to cook, into music, watching the news, and reading her bible. Her favorite sports team was the Jordan era Chicago Bulls… The IncrediBulls! When younger, she enjoyed art and had skills in both drawing & painting. So much so, she perhaps instilled that desire within her younger brother John Ambriz (Uncle John), who turned out to become a pretty good artist himself. May he too rest in peace.

Her skill range began at such a young age, from having a painting hung at her elementary school (Peter Cooper), to sculpture design, as well as carpentry. As an electrician there was probably no skill set Christina Ambriz could not master.

There may be chance you noticed her or walked past her while going through the isles at some of her frequented Home Improvement Stores such as Home Depot, Menards, or Lowes. I’m sure some people probably thought she actually worked there. If not, then you may have seen her at a nursery, helping her mother to bring home items for her garden.

Our mother attended Peter Cooper Elementary, Washburne Trade School, Malcom X College and Chicago Women in Trades.

Her favorite Scriptures: Psalm 23 & 91. Childhood Crush: Paul McCartney.

Movies/TV: Clash of The Titans, Laurel & Hardy, Godzilla, Voyage To The Bottom of The Sea, The Monkeys, Get Smart, Gilligan’s Island, Soul Train, Disney, American Bandstand, Scarface, The Sopranos, Creature Features. Music: Soul, R&B, Disco, Tejano, Light Rock, Oldies & Dusties. With some of her all-time favorite being Earth, Wind & Fire, Santana, Sade, Simply Red, and Bob Marley.

Vacation/Retreat Locations: Texas, Niagara Falls, Arizona, Missouri.

Clothes/Outfits: If she wasn’t dressed in her usual work attire of Jeans, Work Vest, and Timberland Boots, she enjoyed flower outfits and southwest attire.

Restaurants: La Casa Del Pueblo, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Huck Finn. Giordano’s Pizza,

Mattson’s Steak House, and of course anything Chinese food.

Visitation: Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Hursen Funeral Home, 4001 Roosevelt Rd., Hillside (Corner of Mannheim & Roosevelt) from 3:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m.

Funeral Service: Friends and family will gather Friday July 1, 2022, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 2127 W. 22nd Pl., Chicago. Celebration of Life Service Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1400 S. Wolf Rd., Hillside.

Our condolences to your family. May Christina Rest In Peace. God Bless he soul. I’ll always remember, when my son was sick in the hospital at just 8 weeks old. I shared the story with Fabian, he then told his mom and shortly after…. Christina and Fabian showed up to the hospital to pray with us. It was the first time I had ever met Christina. She was an amazing spirited person who loved deeply. Her genuine care for my son and my family was so felt and greatly appreciated. Today my son is 8 years old and healthy. Deep in my heart, I know her prayers contributed to that. Thank you Christina!

Today, I shared this story with my son and he too is so grateful for her.

To Fabian, Peter, Mike, Chris, and all the other siblings and family members… I send you much love in a time I’m sure you need it. You all are in my families prayers.

Bobby

Dear Christ, it will be a while before we meet again, you are in a better place now and at peace. You of course left some broken hearts behind but it’s because you were such a wonderful woman. <3
You left behind a part of you that helped and touched the hearts of some and a familia full of love.
You will be greatly missed so with a tear in my eye I say see you later (Hodona) in the great rehab in the sky <3 xo
