Jamil Sami Alnemri

"I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live."

It is with heavy hearts and faith in the Resurrection that we announce the passing of our beloved Jamil Sami Alnemri (Abu Jihad), who entered eternal rest on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the age of 87, having received the holy sacraments. Jamil was the cherished husband of Mariam Yacoub Mansour-Alnemri for 61 years, and a devoted father to his five children: Jihad (Claudia), Sami (Irma), Eyad (Diana), Fadia (Kamal), and Rami (Nicole). He was also the proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

Jamil will be remembered for his warm spirit, generous heart, and deep love for his family. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome—whether through his words, kindness, or presence. A man of wisdom and strength, he was someone his loved ones could always turn to for guidance, comfort, and encouragement.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Our Lady of the Ridge Catholic Church, 10811 Ridgeland Avenue, Chicago Ridge, IL 60415 where Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, 801 Michigan City Road, Calumet City, IL 60409
