Gabriela Botas

Gabriela (Gabi) Botas, a beloved daughter, mother and sister, passed away on June 2nd surrounded by her loved ones. Gabi was born on April 24, 1971 in the city of Targu Mures in the Transylvania region of Romania. She worked as an accountant in Romania and as a household manager in the United States. She forged close bonds with all of the families that she worked with and many of their children saw her as something of a second mother.

Gabi preferred hobbies that she could enjoy in the presence or service of others. She loved spending time outdoors and met many friends doing so, serving as a board member of the Pine Point Ski Club. She loved to travel, visiting many of the US National parks and many countries around the world. She was an accomplished cook and took pride in her gourmet cakes, which she baked for loved ones' birthdays - always stunning, beautiful and delicious. She loved to knit and was always making a scarf, hat or sweater for the people that she loved. She was made of pure goodness; her love, kindness, and insatiable joy touched so many peoples' lives. She inspired us all to be more positive, kinder, better. Her death leaves a huge hole in our hearts.

Gabi is survived by her beloved daughter Corina Szabados, her sister and best friend Anda Ginsberg (Andrew), her mother Doina Misin, her nephew Elias Ginsberg and extended family in her native Romania.

Gabi will be cremated and her family will spread her ashes. There will be a memorial gathering at Evanston Lighthouse Beach 2611 Sheridan Road, Evanston, IL this Saturday at 9AM.
