Barbara Joan Reid

June 17, 1933 — May 25, 2026

Barbara Joan Reid (nee Lamiot) passed away on May 25, 2026. Born June 17, 1933 in Carrier Mills, IL to Helen and Harry Lamiot.

Barbara actively participated in life; her favorite hobbies included wade fishing, fishing off her dock, coffee in the morning on her lanai watching the lake, and gardening. The world and her family have lost a bright, energetic, creative, tenacious star. In her later years, living with Alzheimer’s/Dementia did not curtail her love of fun, energy, or sense of humor. Barbara loved to laugh, and enjoyed a pour of wine in the evening before bed.

Barbara was the middle of three children, preceded in death by her older brother John and younger brother Harry. On September 15, 1952 she married James Reid (preceded in death) and they had five daughters, Cheryl, Jan, Linda (preceded in death), Tracey, and Michelle. Barbara has thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She took great delight when family and friends visited her in Florida. Her favorite thing was to share a fish fry starring fish she had recently caught. She was adventurous and would take any willing visitor on a boat ride on her lake asking them not to worry about all the alligators! All who knew Barbara loved her smile and her kindness. Her loss causes an ache in our hearts.

Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am June 26, 2026 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 8404 S. Cass Ave Darien, IL 60561.
