
Maria C. Avalos transitioned to her eternal life on August 23rd 2022 at 82 surrounded by her loving family in Chicago Illinois. Maria was born on September 27,1939 in Laredo Texas, born to Juan Hernandez and Paula Martinez Hernandez, she is one of 14 children.
At the age 5 Maria and her family made the move to Chicago, Illinois where they settled in Pilsen. In 1956 she married Refugio Avalos Sr. and together they had 6 children Refugio (Karen), Sylvia (Jose), Arthur, Armando (Laura), Victor and Leticia (Juvenal).
Maria was a teacher aid for Walsh School for many years and settled as a homemaker. Maria enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears, shopping at the Dollar Store and loved Thrift Store shopping. She is survived by her children, 22 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, 3 dogs and 1 cat…we hope she will watch over us and we continue to strive and make more memories in the Avalos house…. she will truly be missed.
Visitation: Thursday August 25, 2022 at Providence of God Catholic Church, 1800 S. Union Avenue (Corners of 18th Street and Union Avenue) Chicago, Illinois 60616 from 3:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m.
Funeral Service: Friday, August 26, 2022, Friends and family will gather at the church at 9:00 a.m. till the start of the Celebration of Life Mass 10:00 a.m. at Providence of God Catholic Church, 1800 S. Union Avenue (Corners of 18th Street and Union Avenue) Chicago, Illinois 60616. Burial at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 1400 South Wolf Road, Hillside Illinois.
