Lyn Herne Eisenhauer, 61, of Chicago IL died on June 29, 2016, of natural causes. Lyn was born in New York City on July 23, 1954 to Ray and Bebe Eisenhauer. She grew up in Nyack, NY, graduated from Nyack High School with an aspiration to become an architect, having been influenced by her father’s career as a construction consultant. She attended the University of Cincinnati where she received her Bachelor of Architecture in 1978, graduating as the only woman in her class. She then completed graduate work at the University of Cincinnati and Harvard University. Lyn had an illustrious career in architecture in Chicago, working for the firms of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill; VOA Associates; and Ghafari Associates. Project highlights included Navy Pier, McCormick Place Convention Center, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and the University of Cincinnati Conference Center at her alma mater.

Lyn was a warm and loyal person who loved art, cooking, and travel, and made frequent excursions to Greece to indulge in these passions and reconnect with the architectural wonders. She is survived by her brothers Jack and Reed Eisenhauer, sister Peggy Eisenhauer, niece Dana Eisenhauer, and nephews Alex, Reed Allen, and Reed Joseph Eisenhauer. Donations in Lyn’s honor may be made to Habitat for Humanity to reflect her love for buildings and to help serve the people of the city she loved. https://www.windycityhabitat.org/donate.html

While I am just now learning of Lyn’s passing, please accept my condolences. Lyn and I were classmates at Cincinnati while in graduate school. She was all the things you say she was: kind, generous, excellent cook. She was smart as a whip and had a terrific laugh. I think of her with a smile now seeing her picture and reading more about her accomplishments in the obituary.
