Luis Garcia Medina, age 70; passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at his home in Chicago Illinois; surrounded by his loving family. Luis was born in La Soledad, Durango, México. Dear son of †Adelaido García and †Roberta García.Dear brother of †Nena García, Herlinda García, Sabás García, Rubén García and Josefina Rivera.  Dear husband of Magdalena (Ruiz Rodriguez) García. Dear Father of Patricia (José) Peña, Maribel Gálvez, Luis Jr.  (María Silvia Ríos) García. and Adrián García. Dear grandfather of José Peña Jr. (Diane Terraza), Andrew Peña, Diego Gálvez, Arturo Gálvez, Julissa Gálvez, Cristian L García, Alexander García, Natalie I. García, Gabriel A García, Andrea Navarrete and Ariana García.

Luis García was a compassionate person towards his family and he showed his love to them in his unique way, leaving only good memories. Luis liked to pamper his family and friends with his ‘Discadas’ and Chicharrones he perfected the way he prepared them. Luis was caring and generous with his children, motivating them to earn their own money, during the season of Pecans they worked  picking Pecans, rewarding them $1 for every bucket filled. Luis also cared about the well-being of his children and protected them from any person or thing who threaten to harm them. As they recall a time a teacher hit one of his children; he then went to the teacher and threaten to beat him for hurting his child and that teacher never raised a hand to any of his children. Luis wasn’t very affectionate, but he did share his love for his family in his own unique way.  Luis had a hard life as a child growing up and had a strong work ethic; he always worked to the bone.

Luis will always be in the heart and memory of his family and friends.

Visitation: Sunday June 21, 2020, Hursen Funeral Home, 4001 W. Roosevelt Road, Hillside, Illinois.  Immediate Family will arrive at 2:00 p.m. Celebration of Life Mass Service at 4:00 p.m. Celebrant Fr. Deogratias. Funeral Service: Monday, June 22, 2020 9:00 a.m. Prayer Service Hursen Funeral Home, 4001 RooseveltRd, Hillside, Illinois. 60162. Burial: Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1400 S. Wolf Road, Hillside, Illinois. Due to these restrictions the funeral and burial will be private.

For Immediate Family wishing to pay respects at the funeral home, Per CDC requirements only 10 people allowed in Visitation Room at all times. Please be respectful of the family’s wishes. No children under the age of 13 will be allowed for safety reasons.

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic all attending visitation, Celebration of Life Mass service and or burial must wear mouth covering at all times. Per guidelines of the Archdiocese of Chicago Churches and Cemeteries the number of people attending the funeral service and burial should not exceed more ten people.

For those wishing to pay respects, we will host a memorial service in the near future. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, we are unable to host a public viewing or burial.

Debido a la Pandemia Covid-19 todos los que asistan al velorio, al servicio de la iglesia y/o entierro deben llevar cobertura de boca (Cubre-bocas) en todo momento.La familia 2:00 p.m. Celebración de Vida Misa Servicio a las 4:00 p.m. Oficiante Padre Deogratias. 

Servicio Funeral: 22 de Junio, 2020; Rezos a las 9:00 a.m. en Hursen Funeral Home, 4001 Roosevelt Road, Hillside, Illinois 60162. Entierro: Cemeterio Queen of Heaven 1400 S. Wolf Road, Hillside, Illinois. El eniterro será Privado.

Según las regulaciones de la Arquidiócesis de Chicago, Iglesias y Cementerios, el número de personas que asistan al servicio de la capilla en la funeraria y el entierro, no debe exceder de más de 10 personas. Debido a estas restricciones, la misa, funeral y el entierro serán privados.

 Por requisitos de las CDC (Centro de Control de Enfermedades), sólo 10 personas serán permitidas en la Sala de Velación en todo momento. Por favor, sean respetuoso a los deseos de la familia. No se admiten niños menores de 13 años por motivos de seguridad.
