Loretta M. Lopez, age 57 life long resident of Pilsen, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at her residence in Chicago, Illinois. Beautiful loving mother of: Ernesto (Bobbie) Alcala, Christine (Maurice) Proffit, Maryjane (Late † Silvano) Gamez, Melissa Alcala, and Richard Castanedo. Cherished grandmother of: Carissa, Alianna, Isaac, Melanie. Loving sister of: Linda (Joseph) Aguirre ad Steve (Kara) Bedolla. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents: †Joseph & Bertha Lopez and her brother † Joseph Lopez Jr.
Loretta was a long time and active member of St. Procopius Church, Loretta attended mass every Sunday at the 10:45 a.m. and religious holidays. Loretta loved her flowers and plants. Loretta loved to travel and since she had a fear of airplanes she drove all over the country her most memorable vacation was driving to the Grand Canyon. Loretta was a hard worker and worked all her adult life she was an avid Dancer she loved to” Boogie Woggie” till she couldn’t Boogie Woggie no more.” She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral Visitation: Tuesday, December 27th, 2016 at St. Procopius Church, 1641 S. Allport Street, Chicago, Illinois 60608. Lying in state from 9:15a.m. till the start of Mass at 11:30 a.m. Burial at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1400 S. Wolf Road, Hillside, Illinois.

I cried when her daughter Maryjane gave me the news that my cousin Lorrie was gone, but my heart tells me that she will always be with me. I’m glad that she’s not in pain and happy and healthy in Heaven with her mom, dad and brother. My condolences to the entire family on the loss of your beloved.

Momma was one of kind. She always wanted better for everyone. She pulled no punches if my lip stick was to dark. When I see green plants or baskets I think of her passion for them. She loved to be up beat and laugh. She was definitely a health nut and believed in eating healthy. She always put a smile on my face. I will miss our conversations and our counseling to each other lol. I am going to miss how she always gave me warm welcomes. She has been with me since the age of ten and always expressed to me I was family-she always made me feel special. She played a prominent role in my life and always will. I will always love her and be thankful she leaves amazing children behind so I can continue to have her legacy live on with me. Saddened she left suddenly but at peace knowing her suffering is gone. She in a peaceful place now with her loving God.

My heart was filled with Sadness and my eyes filled with Tears..when I was told that my friend of 43 years was no longer here..I know that she is in a better place now. The Word of God says To be absent from the Body..is to be Present with the Lord..we had a Great Conversation not too long ago ..we laughed and shared our current and went down Memory Lane…great talk…Thank You my Friend …may you RIP Lori.
