Judith M Skelnik (nee Frische) of Des Plaines died May 8, 2019.  Judy was born October 22, 1940 in Chicago and lived in Des Plaines for over 32 years. After graduating from the Academy of Our Lady High School, Judy worked for Science Research Associates and later Dry Storage Corp.  After a combined 44 years of energetic service, Judy retired.  Her career was over but she continued to work hard caring for family and friends.  If you made friends with Judy, you made a friend for life!  She kept in touch with old neighbors, past co-workers and relatives around the world.  She found joy in helping and serving others, especially her family and friends.  Family was very important to Judy and as a single mother she was devoted to her son, Chris.

Judy is survived by her son, Christopher (Cristine), the granddaughters she adored, Cora and Catie, her beloved sister, Barbara (William) Graue and the many nieces and nephews whom she loved so much.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Norbert (Mary) Frische and by her parents, August and Antonie Frische.  Judy will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

The care she received from Oak Trace Health Center in Downers Grove and the Angels Grace Hospice was wonderful and we are grateful for their assistance.

Memorials in her remembrance may be made to Int’l Essential Tremor Foundation (essentialtremor.org) or Angels for Hospice Charities, 325 West Huron, Suite 200, Chicago, IL  60654.

While I am thankful that Judy no longer struggles for every breath, I am having trouble accepting a world without her. Fifty years of friendship are forever a part of me. I know how much you, her family, meant to her and share your sorrow at her passing.

Barb,
Looking at Judy’s obit today. Wanted to let you know my husband, Bill, died 10/15 with Alzheimer’s. Had a rough last 6 months. Using same cremation service.
Regards,
Barb Graue

Judy was a great co-worker for a long time. We went through some interesting times together at SRA to say the least. Heaven is a better place with Judy there.

I have lost my Aunt Judy…and because I only saw her occasionally after I grew to adulthood, she will forever be etched in my mind and heart as she was when I was young — practical, funny, and loving. She pretended to be so strict with us kids, and yet she was really a big softie and we knew it and loved her right back. I’m glad she’s out of pain now, but I will miss her.
