Jose Antonio Sanchez, 75 years old, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at DHR Hospital in Edinburg, Texas. Cherished father of: Arturo Colon, Esther Mercado, Elizabeth García, José Sánchez Jr. and Evette Flores. Fond and dedicated Grandfather of: Arturo James Colon, Raquel Pérez, Valente Sánchez, Tatiyanna Sánchez, Franchesca Mercado. Nicholas Hernández. Angelo Hernández, Arilyn García, Víctor Sánchez, Jayde Sánchez, Joselyn Sánchez, José Sánchez III, Carlos Flores Jr., Mario Flores, Edwin Flores. Great Grandfather of: Ethan Alejandro Garcia and Violet Sánchez, Elijah Anthony Warner. Fond brother of Ludovina Mora, Aurea Santiago, Jaime Sanchez and Ruben Sanchez. Toño was preceded in death by his beautiful wife  †Rose Marie Sanchez, his dear parents Confessor and Juana Sanchez and 8 siblings.

Toño worked as a custodian at St. Procopius Church and at CHA. Once he retired from the  work force; to everyone, he was  A go to mechanic and fix-it guy. Toño loved his Dominoes; avid Chicago Cubs fan and lived to see the Cubs win the 2016 World Series and become Champions. Toño was a dedicated Grandpa, loved his grandchildren and children unconditionally. He will be greatly missed by his family and his friends.

Visitation: Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Sourek Funeral Home, 5645 West 35th Street, Cicero, Illinois 60804 from  3:00 p.m.– 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service: Wednesday, April 14, 2021, Family and friends are asked to meet at St. Procopius Church, 1200 West 18th Street (Corner of 18th Street and Allport Street), Chicago on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 for the Celebration of Life Funeral Mass at 10:00 am. Burial will take place at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1400 S. Wolf Road., Hillside, Illinois 60162.

Please be respectful of the wishes of the family. Please follow social distancing guidelines & wear your face mask at all times. As much as the family would love to receive your hugs it’s important to provide safety for all.

No Children under 13 years old can be accommodated for safety reasons. For those wishing to pay their respects at the funeral home, only 50 people at a time will be allowed in the visitation chapel of the Funeral Home.

Funeral Associates will be directing those paying respects upon entering the Funeral Home.

ALL ATTENDEES must cover using mouth-face mask covers, respect social distancing and use of hand sanitizers.

According to the regulations CDC; the Archdiocese of Chicago, Churches and Cemeteries due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, those attending the burial/cemetery, ALL ATTENDEES must cover using mouth-face mask covers and respect the social distancing at the cemetery. For those attending the visitation you re asked to sign in and will be asked f you will be attending mass the following day.

†José Antonio Sánchez, de 75 años, falleció tranquilamente el martes 6 de abril del 2021 en el Hospital DHR en Edinburg, Texas. Apreciado padre de: Arturo Colón, Esther Mercado, Elizabeth García, José Sánchez Jr. y Evette Flores. Abuelo cariñoso y dedicado de: Arturo James Colon, Raquel Pérez, Valente Sánchez, Tatiyanna Sánchez, Franchesca Mercado. Nicolás Hernández. Angelo Hernández, Arilyn García, Víctor Sánchez, Jayde Sánchez, Joselyn Sánchez, José Sánchez III, Carlos Flores Jr., Mario Flores, Edwin Flores. Bisabuelo de: Ethan Alejandro García y Violet Sánchez, Elías Anthony Warner. Amoroso hermano de Ludovina Mora, Aurea Santiago, Jaime Sánchez y Rubén Sánchez. Toño fue precedido en la muerte por su hermosa esposa †Rose Marie Sánchez, sus queridos padres †Confesor y †Juana Sanchez y 8 hermanos/as.
Toño trabajó como custodio en la Iglesia de San Procopio y en CHA. Una vez que se retiró del trabajo; para todo el mundo, él era de “Ve al mecánico y arréglalo”.
A Toño le encantaba jugar Dominó; ávido fanático de los ‘Chicago Cubs’ y vivió para ver a los ‘Cubs’ ganar la Serie Mundial de 2016 y convertirse en Campeones. Toño era un abuelo dedicado, amaba incondicionalmente a sus nietos e hijos. Será muy extrañado por su familia y sus amigos.
Velación: Martes 13 de abril del 2021 en Sourek Funeral Home, 5645 West 35th Street, Cicero, Illinois 60804 de 3:00 p.m.– 8:00 p.m. Servicio Funerario: Miércoles, 14 de abril de 2021,  Se pide a familiares y amigos que se reúnan en la Iglesia de St. Procopius, 1200 West 18th Street (Esquina de la Calle 18 y Allport Street, Chicago, Illinois; el miércoles 14 de abril del 2021 para la Misa Funeral de Celebración de la Vida a las 10:00 am. Entierro: Cementerio Reina del Cielo, 1400 S. Wolf Road., Hillside, Illinois 60162
Por favor, sean respetuosos de los deseos de la familia. Por favor, siga las pautas de distanciamiento social y use su cubre bocas en todo momento. Por mucho que a la familia le encantaría recibir sus abrazos, es importante brindar seguridad para todos.
No se permite la visita de niños menores de 13 años por motivos de seguridad. Para aquellos que deseen presentar sus respetos en la funeraria, sólo 50 personas a la vez podrán ser permitidas en la capilla de visita de la Funeraria.
Los/as asociados/as funerarios/as dirigirán a las personas para que pasen y paguen sus respetos al entrar en la Funeraria.
TODOS LOS ASISTENTES deben usar cubre bocas en todo momento, respetar el distanciamiento social y el uso de desinfectantes de manos.
De acuerdo con los reglamentos del CDC; la Arquidiócesis de Chicago, Iglesias y Cementerios Católicos, debido a la Pandemia Covid-19, los asistentes al entierro / cementerio, TODOS LOS ASISTENTES deben usar cubre bocas y respetar el distanciamiento social en el cementerio. Para aquellos que asistan a la visita, se les pedirá que al llegar se registren y se les preguntará si asistirán a misa al día siguiente.

Cuando me vaya Cuando me vaya no lloren por mi. Pasen el vino y beban, acordándose del placer que les causaba mi risa. Mírense uno al otro, sonrían, y no se les olvide abrazarse. Canten las canciones que me gustaban más y bailen una vez todos juntos. Liz, Mi más sentido pésame para ti y toda tu familia, es una pérdida irreparable, el poco tiempo que conocí a tu papá se que era un gran señor, también fue muy feliz aquí en Texas donde lo recibimos con mucho cariño, Dios lo reciba en su reyno🙏🏻Descanse en paz. Reciban un fuerte abrazo
